MINICAMP MAYHEM:

- from FOXSports.com

Jerramy Stevens was the only tight end on the field when the Seahawks closed their first minicamp because incumbent starter Itula Mili decided not to participate in the "voluntary" portion, and promising No. 3 tight end Ryan Hannam needed arthroscopic surgery to correct a problem that was causing swelling in his surgically repaired right knee. Mili not only looked heavy during the three-day mandatory camp, but he was. He reportedly checked in at 290 pounds. Stevens, meanwhile, has dropped 12 pounds. Even more important, Stevens rarely dropped a pass while making plays in the passing game. . . .

Speaking of injuries, the inactivity of tackles Cedric Woodard (ankle) and Rashad Moore (shoulder), end Bryce Fisher (foot), cornerback Marcus Trufant (shoulder) and free safety Ken Hamlin (shoulder), who are rehabbing from surgeries, made it difficult to gage just how much the Seahawks have improved a defense that ranked No. 26 in the league last season. The secondary was so thin that rookie Junior Rosegreen, who was in as a free-agent tryout, worked with the No. 1 unit. He made the most of his opportunity, and the club signed Rosegreen.
